Zak is washing dishes at the bakery, when he witnesses a spectacular UFO crash. Climbing out of the debris are Squdge and Foggy, who have fled their star system to escape an ongoing war on their home planet. Rather than fighting eachother, Squdge and Foggy have decided to explore the cosmos together instead. Zak invites them to stay at his place, where they turn up the knobs on their new space rock sound.

While shopping at a flea market, Zak meets the hermit inventor Zarles. He sells Zak the Robot Amplifier, which is powered by Zarle's latest invention. Inside the robot is a fuel cell of dark energy, which has no emissions and incredible power. It could save the planet, but the Oil Sucker Corporation is determined to stop it from undermining their business.
